David Patrick Bennis, 63, of Douglassville, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 12, 2026, leaving behind a tremendous hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Dave had a gift for bringing energy, laughter, and warmth to every room he entered. Whether he was lighting up the night sky with one of his legendary firework displays, cheering on his beloved Nittany Lions, Phillies, or Eagles, or lacing up his running shoes for yet another race, Dave threw himself into life with a passion and enthusiasm that was simply contagious. A dedicated and accomplished runner, he completed "The Big Four" U.S. marathons-a testament to the determination and heart that defined everything he did.
Professionally, Dave enjoyed a distinguished career in operations, logistics, and supply chain management. A proud Penn State graduate with a degree in Logistics and APICS certification, he dedicated more than 40 years to leading manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, transportation, and customer service organizations. His career included leadership positions with Kimberly-Clark, Baldwin Hardware and Lentz Milling/JM Swank/Brenntag. Those who worked alongside him remember his steady leadership, practical wisdom, and genuine care for the people around him.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. Bennis and Elizabeth 'Betty' Bennis, and by his sister, Joan Bennis Wessman.
Dave loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife and steadfast partner, Victoria Bennis; his daughter, Elizabeth Bennis; and his sons, Tyler and Ryan Bennis. They were his greatest pride, his deepest joy, and the reason behind his radiant smile. Dave is also survived by his siblings: Jim Bennis (Cindy); Nancy Hupp (Dave); Bob Bennis (Erin); Jeff Bennis (Ruth); Steve Bennis (Elaine); Matt Bennis and his partner, Vicky Hoover, and his brother-in-law, Bob Wessman. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom were touched by his joy for life, sense of humor and love of family.
Some of Dave's fondest memories were made during family vacations in Aruba, where he especially cherished crashing waves and snorkeling adventures with Tyler and Ryan, fully embracing the spirit of the island's nickname, "One Happy Island." He never missed an opportunity to sink his feet into the white sand, enjoy a Corona, and marvel at the island's teal water and vivid sunsets with the ones he loved most.
Beyond his love of Aruba's beautiful landscape, Dave had a deep appreciation for the wonders of the outdoors, following in his father's footsteps. He loved watching wildlife, particularly hawks and eagles, as they crossed his path or soaring overhead. He was fascinated by the power and grandeur of nature. Whether late at night or early in the morning, Dave was also well known for eagerly tracking and preparing for approaching storms.
Alongside his love of nature was Dave's playful spirit, where he delighted in practical jokes. With his trademark grin, he would bring laughter and joy to family gatherings. He possessed the remarkable ability to always put a smile on anyone's face.
Above all else, Dave's greatest source of happiness was his family. He shared a special bond with his son Ryan through their mutual love of music and running. Whether they were training for a race or listening to music through the speakers at the fireplace, those moments became cherished traditions that only the two of them could truly appreciate. Dave took immense pride in Elizabeth's unwavering optimism and resilience, which showed through every challenge that she faced. Watching Elizabeth's face light up when Dave entered the room was something to behold. Dave often spoke of Tyler's pursuit of excellence in every aspect of his life and the pride he took in all that Tyler accomplished. On a Saturday afternoon, they could often be found together in front of our TV, captivated by a Penn State football game or obsessing over the supercar that just drove by them on the highway. The stories born from those experiences will continue to be shared for years to come, ensuring that his warmth, humor, and love remain with all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather with those who loved Dave best to share memories, stories, laughter, and the moments that made him so special. Together, we will celebrate his life and the many ways he touched the hearts of those around him.
