Darnell L. Bickel

Darnell L. Bickel, 74, of Reading, passed away on May 8, 2018, in St Joseph's Medical Center.

He was the beloved wife of Sharon K. (Schwenk) Bickel. They were married on October 17, 1969.

Born in Lancaster on October 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles and Bernice (Gise) Bickel.

Darnell achieved his bachelor's degree from Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, AL.

Darnell worked as a Minister for over 32 years at Hamilton Park Church in Allentown and various other churches in Louisiana, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio. He retired on December 31, 2012.

He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Reading.

Darnell enjoyed reading and loved to garden. He was a loving husband who was dedicated to his faith and family. Darnell will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Scott Bickel, Reading; two daughters, Chelley, wife of Chris Schultz, Madison, TN; and Kerri, wife of Chad Reinert, Alburn, PA; one brother, Barry Bickel, Whitehall, PA, and three grandchildren: Megan, Haylee, and Grayson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560. Burial will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
