Darlene Ann (Gapinski) Terefenko, 80, formerly of Exeter Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Phoebe Berks.
She was the beloved wife of Michael Terefenko Jr., with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 4, 2024. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born in Reading, PA, Darlene was the daughter of the late Chester and Anna (Stanislawczyk) Gapinski. A proud graduate of Reading High School, she went on to become the loving mother of two sons: Dr. Kevin Terefenko, married to Christi (Sychterz), of Wyomissing, and Chad Terefenko, married to Emily (Stegner), of Downingtown. She was also the adored grandmother of five grandchildren: Benjamin (23), Lukas (21), Ryleigh (14), Locklyn (5), and Tobyn (2), all of whom brought her immense joy.
Darlene's love for life was evident in her many passions. For many years, she danced at the Marie Shaw School of Dance, a testament to her grace and dedication. She took great pride in supporting her sons and grandchildren at their sporting events, especially baseball, which she followed with enthusiasm. Darlene also had a special place in her heart for dogs, always surrounded by their loyal companionship. She and her husband were avid travelers, embarking on numerous cruises with friends over the years, creating lasting memories. Known for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, Darlene could always bring a smile to those around her.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Gapinski.
