Darlene F. (Bowman) Estright, 70, passed away August 22, 2024, in her Reading residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife of Mahlon C. Estright. They would have celebrated their 52nd wedding Anniversary on Monday.
Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late Willis S. and Florence G. (Keffer) Bowman.
Darlene worked as a supervisor for Prospectus Berko for many years.
Darlene's family cherishes her memory as a kind and modest woman. She often opened her home to those in need, offering them a warm meal and a comfortable place to stay, as well as caring for stray animals. During the holiday season, she generously shared toys with underprivileged children and delighted them with her homemade Christmas cookies. Her talent for baking, especially her famous peanut butter eggs, and her love for crafting were truly respected and enjoyed by everyone.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Angela Bowman, Reading, Karen, wife of James Dawson, Landover, MD, Twilla Estright, and Kiana Estright, both of Reading; and three siblings: Gary Bowman, Dennis Bowman, and Linda Smeltzer. Eight grandchildren: Amber, Joshua, Cassaundra, Mahlon, Jayden, Kiara, Kayla, and Kitryce; and 15 great-grandchildren also survive her.
At Darlene's request, services will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
