Daniel N. Sharpe

Daniel N. Sharpe Jr., 80, died May 16 at 9:15 p.m. in his residence on Reading Boulevard, Wyomissing.

He was the husband of Doris F. (Fischofer) Sharpe.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Daniel Sharpe Sr. and Nancy (Kinder) Sharpe.

Sharpe was employed as director of engineering by the Penn Optical Co., Reading, from 1977 until his retirement in 1990.

He was a 1950 graduate of Union College, Schenectady, N.Y.

Sharpe was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is also survived by a daughter, Ruth S. (Sharpe) Heald, Metford, N.J.; and three sons: Alan D., New Canaan, Conn.; James W., Princeton, N.J.; and Donald P., New York City.

Other survivors include 10 grandchildren.

Services will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
