Daniel C. Kubacki

Daniel C. Kubacki, 90, of West Lawn, passed away on August 21, 2007 at Manor Care Health Services, Laureldale, where he had resided since April.

He was a loving and caring husband. His wife, Helen (Monkiewicz), with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, died August 7, 2002.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Wallace and Tillie (Wolicki) Kubacki.

Dan was a graduate of Reading High School in 1935 and attended Wyomissing Polytech Institute.

He retired from Carpenter Technology in 1981 after 41 years, last working as Supervisor in the Hot Rolling Mills.

Dan loved and supported scholastic sports throughout Berks County.

He served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA, and New York City. Dan was active in high school and college sports, serving as referee for the Reading Football Chapter (43 years), Basketball (15 years) Softball and Baseball (31 years). Following retirement as a football referee, he ran the time clock at Wilson High School and Albright College for 15 years.

Dan was active in the Polish community as a member of the Polish Falcon Alliance and the Polish American Heritage Committee. He assisted the establishment of the Polish Cultural Center at Alvernia College in memory of his wife, Helen.

Daniel established scholarships with the Berks County community Foundation for students at Reading High, Mount Carmel and Wilkes University. He supported Nursing/Health programs at Alvernia College and Reading Area Community College. He supported the Foundation of St. Joseph's Hospital through the dedication of stained glass windows transferred to the new hospital.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, West Reading, where he served as an usher.

He was predeceased by brothers, Wallace Kubacki, Jr. and Edward L. Kubacki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
