Daniel Demarte

Daniel DeMarte, 89 of Reading, passed away on Monday, June 11 at Penn State Health-St.Joseph Medical Center. Born April 22, 1929, he was a son of the late Joseph and Candita (Mary) (Sonsini) DeMarte.

Daniel was the owner of DeMarte's Grocery Store at Front and Schuylkill Avenue for over 60 years before working at the former American Bank & Trust prior to retiring. A US Army veteran, Daniel was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joan DeMarte; several nieces and nephews and their children. Daniel was predeceased by five siblings: Patsy, Joseph and Kathleen DeMarte, Nancy Acker and Rose Bialek.

A committal service will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery Friday, June 15 at 9am. In lieu of flowers, donations in
