Dale R. Moyer, 84, passed away on August 25, 2022, in his South Heidelberg Township residence. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Herbert J. and Laura (Strauss) Moyer. Dale's "partner in crime", his older brother, Jay Moyer passed away on July 28, 2020.
Dale was predeceased by his wife, Barbara J. Moyer on July 7, 2010. He and Barb loved spending time with their three grandchildren, Lindsay, Olivia, and Ethan. They enjoyed taking them on day trips and attending their many sporting events over the years.
Dale and Barb also enjoyed traveling. Trips to Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, and Bermuda were some of their favorite destinations. The couple also loved their dogs. Molly, Maddie, Kayla and Kobe were always there to greet them when they returned home.
Dale was a 1956 graduate of Reading High School. After graduation, he then followed in his father's footsteps when he began his lifelong career working for the Reading Railroad, later known as Conrail and Norfolk Southern Railroad. He served as a Train Man, Yard Master, Train Master and Chief Dispatcher before retiring on August 23, 1999. After retirement, Dale stayed in touch with his many railroad buddies by attending monthly breakfasts which he always looked forward to.
Dale enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his long-time companion Tina Weinhold. Tina and Dale never missed any opportunity to go to Ocean City, NJ together. Dale liked to unwind with a good "Manhattan" and enjoyed watching golf, the Phillies and the Eagles, as well as listening to Classic Country Music.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring.
Dale will be missed by his two children: Kimberly L., wife of David Kissling, Sinking Spring, and Eric M., husband of Melissa Moyer, Wyomissing; two stepchildren, Greg Bricker and Gary Bricker, Camp Hill; and his three aforementioned grandchildren, Lindsay, wife of Jon Seeger, Olivia Moyer and Ethan Moyer.
Services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 4:00 pm at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Inurnment will be private. Family and friends may call Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Rd. Birdsboro, PA 19508
