Dale E. Hill

Dale Eugene Hill, 79, of Reed Farm, Muhlenberg Township, died April 3, 2012 in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township.

He was the husband of Amelia "Amy" (Russell) Hill, whom he married July 11, 1959.

Born June 6, 1932 in Captina, WV, he was a son of the late Friend, Sr. and Gertrude (Ray) Hill.

Dale was a 1950 graduate of Cadiz High School, Cadiz, OH, where he was quarterback and captain of the football team. He also was a graduate of Penn State University, Hazelton, where he earned his Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

He was employed as an electrical engineer with AT&T for 30 years, retiring in 1989.

Dale served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Honorably discharged as a corporal, he served as a tank commander.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing the guitar, and singing at family gatherings.

Dale was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, where he was a eucharistic minister, lechter, and a choir member, where he was frequently a soloist.

Also surviving are three children: Jeffrey A., husband of Catherine M. (LaFosse) Hill of Douglassville; Barbara A. (Hill), wife of Thomas J. Hughes of Muhlenberg Township and Gene R. Hill companion of Danielle Brown of Laureldale.

Other survivors include 7 grandchildren: Noah J. Hill, Olivia J. Hill, Matthew J. Hughes, Natalie R. Hughes, Kristy M.,wife of Jeffrey Killian, Taylor N. Hill and Erik R. Hill and four great grandchildren, Austin J. and Colten L. Hughes, Jeffrey B. Killian, III and Angel Bibbus.

In adddition, he is survived by four siblings: Kenneth Ray of Cadiz, OH; Gerald R. Hill of West Lawn; Nancy (Hill) Speicer of New Oxford, PA and Terrence Hill of Adena, OH.

Dale was predeceased by five siblings: Robert Londress, Elizabeth (Londress) Guienter, Donald Hill, Friend Hill, Jr. and Jack Hill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angel's Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605, with Monsignor Dennis T. Hartgen celebrating. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 and Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
