D. Michael Forester

D. Michael Forester, 85, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away on November 7, 2024, at Willow Valley Communities in Lancaster.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia P. "Penny" (Pennypacker). They married on February 10, 1962, and shared 62 wonderful years together.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John D. and Alice L. (DeLong) Forester. Michael graduated from Mt. Penn High School, class of 1957, and attended Albright College. He worked for Dana Corp. as a sales executive for 40 years until his retirement in 2000.

Michael was a longtime member of Sacred Heart RCC in West Reading. He enjoyed both playing and watching tennis matches, and woodcarving. Michael was a devoted family man and immensely proud of his grandchildren. He served on the Wyomissing Borough Council from 2010-2018, elected to 2nd Vice President. Michael was involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart RCC, dedicated to recruiting young volunteers.

In addition to his wife Penny, he is survived by his children: David M. Forester, married to Diane, of Manchester, VT; Margaret F. "Maggie" Forester Miller, married to Mark of Annapolis, MD; and Peter M. Forester, married to Jacqueline Rider of Falmouth, ME and his grandchildren: Finley and Oscar Forester, Nat and Zachary Miller, and Nicholas and John Forester. His siblings include Mary Alice Forester, married to John Kuczkowski; John D. Forester, Jr., married to Nancy; Thomas D. Forester, married to Brenda; and Philip E. Forester, married to Sue Ann.

Michael's family would like to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care that he received from the staff at The Glen at Willow Valley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart RCC with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's honor to the Mathias Brunner Scholarship for Nursing, Attn: Mathias Brunner Scholarship Donation, 100 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584.
