DR. CYRIL V. LEDDY, JR., DMD
"CY"
Dr. Cyril V. Leddy Jr., 75, took his last breath in the very early morning hours on November 20, 2024. Anyone who knew Cy would understand that he probably chose the time of day to start his next chapter. Cy was always up at the crack of dawn and sometimes even before. He was driven, hardworking and made the most of each day.
While working as a full-time dentist, he also had a Christmas Tree Farm, (1984-2003) known as Leddy Tree Acres, and then eventually a firewood sales business for many years (2003-2020). He was proud of the same returning customers each year complimenting him on the quality of his firewood. He was "Cy the firewood guy".
Cyril was born on June 22,1949 in Reading but raised in Wyomissing. He was the son of the late Dr. Cyril V. Leddy Sr. and Edythe (McMullen) Leddy. Surviving is his loving and devoted wife Carol (Heckman) Leddy, daughter Caroline (John), son Christopher (Leah), and grandchildren Julianna, Andrew and Audrey Leddy. Predeceased by son Chad Christian Leddy in 2007. Siblings Dr. Anne Leddy Wilson (Sandy), Dr. Cheryl Leddy Thornton (Jim). Predeceased by brother Dr. Michael P. Leddy.
He was a 1967 graduate of the former Holy Name High School and 1971 graduate of The University of Scranton (BS). In 1978, Cyril graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry. He joined his father Dr. Cyril V. Leddy Sr. in his dental practice at 312 Lancaster Avenue with a second location at 19 N. Brooke St., Robesonia.
In 1984, Cyril was accepted in the Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry and 1986 accepted in the American Orthodontic Society. He was a member of The American Dental Association, Berks County Dental Society and the Conwell Society of Temple University.
Cy was a devoted family man and happiest at home. He was a great father to his children whom he guided with strength and determination for them to succeed and do the right thing. He was a wonderful "Papa" to his three Grandchildren, Julianna, Andrew, and Audrey, whom he loved dearly. He was proud of all their accomplishments.
And he truly loved his daughter-in-law, Leah, and son-in-law, John. He remarked many times that his children chose great spouses!
Dr. Leddy genuinely appreciated his devoted office staff who had been with him for many years and had become like family. He thoroughly enjoyed his patients and was grateful for their loyalty. He was quick to share his newest joke and loved when patients shared their newest with him. If it were not for his illness he likely never would have retired from dentistry.
Our hearts are so very heavy with grief at the loss of this very special man who will never be forgotten. As Cy would say "See You on the Other Side…"
At Cyril's request, celebration of his life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Cyril Leddy Jr's name may be made to The American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
