Curtis Allen Conrad

Curtis Allen Conrad, 51, of Shillington, died on the evening of January 3, 2007 of natural causes.

He was the husband of Donna C. "Kate" (Marks) Conrad.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Allen L. and Maeyon A. (Heckler) Conrad.

He was a lineman/crew chief for Met-Ed for 28 years last working January 3.

Curt was a 1973 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, where he played varsity basketball. He received his BS degree in Health and Physical Education from West Chester State College in 1977. He also played basketball at West Chester and was the team captain his junior and senior years. Curt was inducted into the West Chester Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Curt coached basketball and baseball for the Mifflin Area Youth Sports Programs.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Kyle A. Conrad, Elizabethtown and one daughter, Sara M. Conrad, a student at West Chester University. There is also one brother, Douglas A. husband of Anne L. Conrad, Spring Twp., one sister Allynn wife of William J. Seidel, Temple and one step-sister, Susan Oplinger, Philadelphia. Two nephews, Austin and Jarrett Seidel and two step-nieces, Janel and Jessica Oplinger also survive him. He was predeceased by a step-brother, Kurt Oplinger.

Services will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Immanuel United Church of Christ Waverly and Brobst Streets Shillington. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Heart Association 25 Stevens Ave. West Lawn, PA 19609. Edward J.
