Colin Frederick Shirey

Colin Frederick Shirey, 31 of Alsace Township, died December 7, 2013 at 9:16 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was taken there following an earlier single-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Friedensburg Road, Alsace Township.

Born May 28, 1982 in West Reading, PA., he was the beloved son of Frederick G. Jr., and Maxine K. (Horning) Shirey, of Alsace Township.

He attended Oley High School and was a 2000 graduate of Faith Mountain Academy.

Colin was last employed in electrical maintenance department with Valley Proteins, East Earl Township, Lancaster County. He was previously employed in the same capacity with Birdsboro Kosher Farms (MVP), Exeter Township.

Other survivors include a maternal grandmother, Ruth B. (Hess), widow of Leonard L. Horning of Lititz, PA. He was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Frederick G. Sr., and Helen M. (Snyder) Shirey.

Colin is also survived by his sister, Katina L. Shirey and a niece, Nadia Faith Holland, both of Alsace Township.

Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 1110 Snyder Road, Reading, PA 19609. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley and Thursday from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Church. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Oley.
