Clayton E. "Max" Leach, 74, of Wyomissing Hills, died October 24, 2009 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Lucian (Smith) Leach. They were married July 29, 1956.
Born October 30, 1934, in Selinsgrove, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton E. Leach and Blanche (Attinger) Leach.
He was a graduate of Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, where he was a Specialist 5th Class.
Max taught business education for two years at Salisbury Elk-Lick High School, Salisbury, PA, and was chairman of the business education department at Schuylkill Valley High School, where he taught from 1962 until his retirement in 1991. At Schuylkill Valley, he was a dedicated advisor to the Future Business Leaders of America, an organization through which he inspired many young people to reach higher and achieve their goals.
After his retirement from Schuylkill Valley, he became Executive Director of Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America, from which he retired in 1998.
He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, for 47 years. He served the church in many capacities, including choir, worship and music committee, property committee, congregation council, and by chairing several special program committees.
Max enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, and was an all-around mischief-maker whose sense of humor will live on through his family's and friends' memories.
Also surviving are his son, Clayton E. Leach III, husband of Leslie K. (Anderson) Leach, Chambersburg, PA, his daughter, Suzanne Leach Magrowski, Shillington, and his two grandsons, Benjamin P. Magrowski and Max N. Magrowski, Shillington. One brother, John R. Leach, Tuckerton, NJ also survives him.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald R. Leach, Selinsgrove, in 2000.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn. There will be a viewing at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave. West Reading on Friday, October 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
