Claude E. Runkel

Claude E. Runkel, 78, formerly of Reading, passed away Saturday, June 26th, 2021, at Stone Ridge Town Center, Myerstown.

He was the husband of Irene R. (Endy) Runkel, who died March 3, 2015.

Born in Fort Bragg, NC, he was the son of the late Harold and Minnie (Kline) Runkel.

Claude was a 1960 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and also attended Albright College.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran.

Claude worked as a steel worker for most of his life.

He is survived by: Susanne M., wife of Sheldon Henne, Wyomissing, Karen L., wife of Matthew Mark, Wernersville, Deborah A. Jambeau, Wernersville and Michael D. Runkel , husband of Laurie, Laureldale.

Claude is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Tracie, Chad, husband of Brittany, Patrick, husband of Rose, James, companion to Scarlett, David, husband of Amanda, Joseph, husband of Emily, Carissa, companion to Josh, Branden, companion to Tyler, Sasha, Michael II, and Lindsay wife to Michael. And fifteen great-grandchildren: Chace, Hunter, Savanah, Lily, Blake, Zoey, Nora, Parker, Lucas, Alexis, Austin, Aubree, Tymmi, Gabriella and Hunter.

He is also survived by His brother James D. Runkel, wife to Lois. And Two nephews James and Daniel.
