Claude E. Field, Sr., 85, of Leesport, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in the care of Keystone Villa Ephrata. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley Ann (Wyatt) Field, who passed away on January 7, 2023.
Born in Cleveland, OH, to the late Norman C. and Marian (Smith) Field, Claude graduated from Reading High School in 1955. He retired in the late 90's as a Maintenance Foreman after more than 30 years with Carpenter Technology.
Claude's memory will be treasured by five children: Diane, wife of Damon Fields, Leesport, PA; Debbie, wife of Eugene Boas, Birdsboro, PA; Ann, wife of Dan Osterfeld, Delaware, OH; Michelle Kready, Ephrata, PA; and Susan Waninger, wife of Tom Galluppi, Topton, PA; ten grandchildren: Jacqueline Devine, Reading, PA; Vanessa Wood, Reading, PA; Rob, husband of Leah Hall Osterfeld, Columbus, OH; Shaun Waninger, Topton, PA; Cassandra Fields, Leesport, PA; Brandi, wife of Andrew Powell, Lancaster, PA; Ashley Waninger, Topton, PA; Ryan Stiber, Ephrata, PA; Timothy Osterfeld, Delaware, OH; and Christopher Kready, Mohnton, PA; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Claude is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Roy Wyatt, Evergreen, CO, and Bud, husband of Linda Wyatt, Beloit, OH.
In addition to his wife and parents, Claude was predeceased by his son, Claude Field, Jr; his daughter, Vicki Jo Stiber; his grandson, Bradley Waninger; and his sisters, Norma Kochan and Barbara Bishop.
Claude and Shirl loved traveling. Following their retirements, they went RVing on many adventures throughout the United States and enjoyed winters spent in Florida. Claude also enjoyed hunting, bowling, and billiards. Claude loved visiting with family and friends. He looked forward to playing board games and card games every Thursday nights and dinner with friends on Friday nights. He had a passion and talent for woodworking and his daughters will forever cherish handmade treasures.
Whenever you think of Claude, remember his favorite things… ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, Southern Comfort, and the movies SALT and Sweet Home Alabama.
Services for Claude will be private at his family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of his son Butch and grandson Bradley may be made to support the Out of Darkness Community Walks program, https://supporting.afsp.org/. Edward J.
