Clarence Harold Sensenig

Clarence Harold Sensenig, 94, of Wyomissing Borough, died February 28, 2009 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been a patient since February 1.

He was the husband of Jennie V. (Focht) Sensenig, whom he married February 21, 1942.

Born April 20, 1914 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Elwood and Jennie (Johnson) Sensenig.

Clarence was employed as a machinist for Textile Machine Works for 13 years, then at Western Electric until the time of his retirement.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing, where he had served on the board of trustees for many years and served as an usher until he joined the choir, where he sang until the age of 90. He was also a member of the Berks County Amateur Astronomy Club. He walked in the CROP walk for 20 years, until the age of 86. He was given the City On The Hill Award by the Reading Berks Conference of Churches in 2002 for this achievement.

Clarence served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 28th Division, 111th Infantry.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda M. Sensenig of Wyomissing and Joyce A. Maurer of West Lawn.

In addition, there is one grandson, Ronald Maurer, Jr., of Spring City, PA and one great-grandson.

He was one of 12 siblings, having seven sisters and four brothers. Surviving is a sister, Hazel McCoy of Denver and a brother, Roy Sensenig of West Lawn.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, 831 N. Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading and Wednesday morning, an hour prior to service, in the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
