Clarence A. Manwiller

Clarence Albert "Boop" Manwiller, 78, of Topton, passed away peacefully December 27, 2011 in the Lutheran Home at Topton.

Born in Stony Creek on January 31, 1933 he was a son of the late Oscar and Jennie (Readinger) Manwiller, and the husband of the late Dorothy Mae Manwiller.

Clarence was employed for over 30 years as a teamster truck driver for Diefenderfer Construction, and then worked for a number of years for Pikeville Equipment until his retirement.

He was a member of the Pikeville Sportsman Club, the 1900 Club, and the Stony Creek Athletic Assoc., and was an Army combat veteran of the Korean War, where he received a number of medals and honors.

Clarence enjoyed working around his farm, riding his Gator, and bird-watching. He loved visiting with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons and their wives: Lee J. and Martha Gierschick of Kimbolton, OH and P. Timothy and Susan Gierschick of Oley; two daughters: Sandra Knieper of Reading and Phyllis A. Manwiller of Oley; a brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Nancy Manwiller of Dover, TN; two sisters: Dorothy Fick and her husband George of Reading and Marian Shaub of Lancaster, who was Clarence's twin; six grandchildren, and a number of great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight brothers: Wayne, Irvin, Leon, Adam, Harold, George, Stanley, and Arthur Manwiller; and five sisters: Esther Hinnershitz, Mabel O'Brien, Florence Gottfried, and Anna and Arlene Manwiller.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 7, 2011 at Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St., Oley. Burial will be private. The family requests no flowers please.
