Clara Louise Bell, 97, formerly of West Lawn, passed away March 9, 2012 in her daughter's Warminster residence where Clara had resided for the past 3 years.
Her husband, Harry E. Bell, died in 2000.
Born in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Coffman.
She was a sales clerk at Pomeroy's and several outlet stores in Reading. She kept in touch with her former co-workers and met with them every week for 27 years at their "breakfast club".
Clara was an excellent seamstress and really enjoyed clothing. She liked playing pinochle, loved people and animals and had a great sense of humor. She was an avid reader and read the morning paper cover to cover while enjoying her coffee.
She was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church and was active in their Safe Haven Lighthouse Program well into her 90's.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou, wife of Joseph N. Myers, Warminster; her sister-in-law, Edith Davis, Harrisburg and her three grandchildren: Deborah, wife of Karl Bell-Slusser, Germantown, MD; Holly Myers, Warminster and Joseph Myers, Jr., Los Angeles, CA.
She was predeceased by her son, Charles W. Bell in 2003 and his wife, Jeanne H. Bell in 2010 and her four siblings: John, Margaret, Alice and Bessie.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609. Viewings will be Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading and Friday 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to West Lawn U.M.
