Claire M. (Sullivan) Causa, 77 a longtime resident of Shillington, passed away May 2, 2010 at Temple University Hospital were she had been a patient since April 17.
She was the wife of 53 years to the late Jack Causa who died in September 2006.
Born and raised in Reading, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Margaret A. (Skeath) Sullivan.
As a youngster, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Reading, where she ultimately got married. As a young adult, she became a member of St. John Baptist de LaSalle Parish for the past 53 years.
She graduated from Reading Central Catholic in 1950 and subsequently became a graduate of the McCann's School of Business in 1951.
Claire was an avid worker and member of the ongoing Central Catholic reunion committee for her class of 1950.
There was nothing more important to her than her family, the annual vacations with them, cooking and hostessing for their birthdays as well as numerous other functions. Seeing the expressions on the faces of her grandchildren at Christmas was most rewarding to her. She spent much of her time attending every possible recital, play, musical and athletic event her grandchildren ever participated in.
Her children would like her to be remembered as not only a loving and caring Mother, but one who has passed on a legacy of selflessness and generosity.
She was predeceased in death by her only brother, John L. Sullivan in 1996.
Surviving are two sons: Jack J., husband of Regina (Gehringer) Causa, Sinking Spring and Dr. David M. , husband of Patricia (Sawyer) Causa, Wyomissing; and two daughters, Cheryl A. (Causa), wife of David Migliore, Sinking Spring; and Dianne M. (Causa), wife of Stephen Weber, Wyomissing.
In addition, there are nine grandchildren: David Causa II, Erin (Causa) Morrissey, Kylie Causa, Megan Migliore, Kevin Migliore, Justin Causa, Bryan Weber, Patrick Causa and Claire Weber.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Baptist de LaSalle Church, Shillington. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call an Thursday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
