Christine Petree

Christine (Lauter) Petree, 104, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Country Meadows where she resided. She was the widow of Douglas Petree.

Born in Wyomissing, she was the daughter of the late Regina (Popp) and Leo F. Lauter, Sr. Christine graduated from St. Peter's High School, class of 1939. She worked for Kauffman and Foltz, and later at E.G. Smith as an office manager. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Arizona to visit her daughter, and took a yearly trip to Hawaii. She also liked taking walks, reading, and doing challenging puzzles. Christine loved to socialize and could make friends with just about anyone.

Those cherishing Christine's memory are her son-in-law Charles and her daughter-in-law Jill as well as her grandchildren Eric, Matthew and his wife Tina, Jessica and her husband Al, and Gretchen and her husband Ray. She is also beloved by nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, Stephen and Linda; as well as her siblings, Leo F. Lauter, Jr. and Mary Jane Waters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church 740 Cherry St, West Reading, PA 19611, with inurnment to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christine's honor to Sacred Heart at the address above.
