Christine F. Mieczkowski, 79, of Gettysburg, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, a day before she would have celebrated her 29th wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Joseph E. Mieczkowski.
Born in Ft. Worth, TX, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Miriam (Miller) Watts. She graduated from Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, CA.
Chris worked for many years in the Social Security Administration, rising through the ranks and eventually overseeing operations as a manager.
Artistic and creative, Chris was a very talented quilter known for gifting her family and friends many beautiful quilts. She and Joe participated in Civil War Living History, and Chris made many examples of period garb, including ball gowns. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting National Parks, particularly surrounding Las Vegas and Gettysburg, where she and Joe resided, as well as traveling to Hawaii and Alaska.
Chris loved her family beyond measure.
Left to treasure her memory is her husband, Joseph; her son, Michael Lord, husband of Lorraine DeBlasio, of Sterling, VA; step-sons, Andrew Mieczkowski, husband of Maureen, of Greer, SC, and Thomas Mieczkowski, husband of Amy, of Washington, PA; grandchildren, Eve and Anna Mieczkowski; brother, Thomas Watts, husband of Marcy, of Prescott, AZ; and sisters, Linda Watts Wood, widow of Fred, of Balboa Island, CA, and Nancy Terpstra, widow of Ed, of Escondido, CA. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law: Gary Mieczkowski, husband of Marcy, of Greeley, CO; David Mieczkowski, husband of Annette, of Laureldale; and Skip Mieczkowski of Mt. Penn.
