Christine M. Binder

Christine "Chris" Marian Binder, 88, of West Lawn, passed away April 24, 2017, in her residence.

Born December 19, 1928, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Cecelia (Tomaszewski) Lewicki.

Her husband, Charles Binder, passed away August 10, 2000, after 50 years of marriage.

Chris was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed in the laboratory and x-ray department in the Reading Hospital as a medical secretary from 1950-1962, then at Reading Orthopedic Association from 1962-1970, and finally as an office manager at the office of Dr. Job Menges Jr. from 1970-1990.

Chris loved spending time with her family who were the most important thing in her life. She also enjoyed working and doing everything for everybody else.

She is survived by her three children: Marcia Binder, wife of Richard Fehling, Wyomissing; Stephen, husband of Tina Binder, Lincoln Park; and Evelyn Witman, West Lawn; nine grandchildren: Geoffrey, Kara, Jessica, Stephen, Stephanie, Shane, Laura, Michelle, and Melanie; three great grandchildren: Lucas, Savannah, and Adeline.

Chris was predeceased by one daughter, Susan Binder- Steffen, wife of Mark Steffen; and three sisters: Helen L'Erario, Eleanor Lewicki, and Dorothy Lewicki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19608. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reading. A viewing will be held Monday from 9-10 a.m. in the church. The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church at the address above or to Mary's Shelter, 736 Upland Avenue, Reading, PA 19607 in Chris's name.
