Christine Batastini

Christine Batastini, 70, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She passed at home with her beloved husband of 51 years, Michael, holding her hand. High school sweethearts, they married on April 29, 1972. He was her caregiver during her courageous battle and fulfilled his promise to be with her until her last breath earthside.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Henrietta (Venezia) Kopteros. Christine graduated from Reading High School in 1970 and soon after obtained her Cosmetology license. Most of her working career however, was in the hospitality industry. She was adored by her work family and was a 25+ year employee of the YR Club, last working in early 2020.

Left to treasure Christine's memory is her husband, Michael T. Batastini; daughter, Deana (Batastini) Kostick, wife of Todd (Wyomissing); her sister, Carole (Kopteros) Wertz, wife of Spencer (Sinking Spring); and her grandchildren: Paige T., Morgan K., and Jameson G. Kostick. She will also be missed by her grand-dog, Gabby. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Kopteros, and his wife, Marcia. She is also now reunited with her Pekingese, Rudi.

Chrissy was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother and friend. Her most rewarding role, however, was that of being "Mimi" to her three grandchildren. She was present at their births and never missed a birthday celebration, sporting event, dance recital or school function. She loved them fiercely and was so proud of them. Blessed to be in her care multiple days a week from infancy until kindergarten, they built a bond like no other. They were her world, and she will live on through them and the memories they hold in their hearts.

She took pride in taking and sharing pictures of sunsets, nature's creatures, her blooming flowers and of course her loved ones. Hiking, gardening, and watching the Phillies and classic TV shows with her husband, her "buddy", also gave her joy. She treasured decorating her house for each season both inside and out, creating the best Halloween costumes, and trying out new recipes. There were always requests for her scratch made banana cake and the Hershey hugs-m&m pretzel treats. On Friday nights you could find her at her daughter's house, sharing delicious appetizers she made, having a cocktail, and toasting the weekend with her son-in-law.

The beach was her happy place. She looked forward to the family's annual vacation to Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware; often getting teased for having her suitcase out weeks prior to start packing. Collecting seashells, building sandcastles, making smores and eating at Mickey's Crab House were tradition. With their chairs in the sand, she and her daughter would soak up every last ray of sunshine.

Christine will always be remembered for her love of family, heart of gold, beautiful smile, and a laugh that would brighten anyone's day.
