Christine A. Leibig

Christine A. Leibig, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Reading Hospital, surrounded by family.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Dampman). She graduated from Reading High School, and attended McCann School of Business. She and her best friend and partner, Ann Wells owned and operated A C Deli in Mohnton for many years. Christine was a real people person. She enjoyed talking to her customers and employees. Chris drove a school bus for Wilson School District and just loved the opportunity to engage with the students. She and Ann enjoyed trips to Ocean City NJ with family and friends, adventures in Florida, as well as going to the casinos. In her later years, she enjoyed sipping her morning cup of coffee with her caregiver and friend Angie, reading the newspaper and watching the birds at the feeder in her back yard. She was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball and tennis. She kept up on current events and politics. She could frequently be found chatting with her neighbors and friends and spoke weekly to her cousin Donna, who was like a sister to her. She also loved dogs and had several crazy labs over the years.

Chris' favorite place was most certainly her home. It was a frequent gathering place for family and friends. Pool parties, swimming lessons, crazy jumping contests, card playing and a lot of good conversation and food. Many of the world's (and family problems) were solved at that porch table. Chris didn't shy away from giving advice - even if no one asked for it. She was a caring, practical, down to earth person - full of common sense. She appreciated her family, friends and life. She recently mentioned how fortunate she was to have good parents and a wonderful brother, who she was very close with until his passing.

She once said," I have loved and I know what it's like to BE loved". That's what life is all about.

She is predeceased by her brother David Leibig and her sister in-law Irma,(Bittle), her best friend and partner Ann Wells, and her cousin Donna Shary (Dampman)..

Christine is survived by her nephew, Bruce Leibig Sr. (Helen) and her niece Joann Mark(Curtis); her great nephews, Joshua Bevan (Kim), Ken Leibig( Danielle), Bruce Leibig Jr.(Tiffany), Jacob Bevan and her great niece Kaitlyn Bevan. Also her great great nephew, Ambrose.

Services will be held privately at Christine's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County at https://berksarl.org.
