Christie Lee Mills, 77, died July 29, 2010 in his Laureldale residence.

He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Seidel) Mills, whom he married June 22, 1957.

Born February 3, 1933 in Hagerstown, MD, he was a son of the late Lloyd C. and Mary V. (Sterling) Mills.

Christie was the President of the Muhlenberg High School class of 1951. He also attended Albright College for two years.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Chris was employed as sales representative with F.W. Dodge, Inc. and later as a manager with Credit Bureau of Reading and Berks County for 36 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale where he was a past Sunday School teacher and officer. He also served on church council. Chris coached several Calvary Lutheran Softball Championship teams.

His memberships included: Muhlenberg Rotary Club; Forest Lake Club, Hawley, PA and Lucullus Hunting and Fishing Club, Pine Creek, PA.

Chris was a volunteer with Berks County Parks and Recreation for 28 years. He also was the business manager for the Muhlenberg High School Musical.

He served as an Indian Guides Leader at the YMCA, advisor with Explorer Post 124, the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries, Laureldale Zoning Board and Auditor Committee; Muhlenberg Library Board; Muhlenberg School Authority and Reading/Muhlenberg Vo-Tech Authority.

Chris was the recipient of various awards including: Rotary's Service Above Self Award in 1987; Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award and Distinguished Leadership for Associated Credit Bureau of PA; the Bob Ueker Mr. Baseball award while participating in Philadelphia Phillies Dream Week; Boscov's Vendor Appreciation award and Muhlenberg Fishing and Rotary Award.

Chris enjoyed fishing, baseball, golf, Penn State football and spending time with family and friends.

He enjoyed trips to Lake Opinicon, Canada; Hilton Head, SC; Yellowstone National Park in the winter and Hawaii.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children: Jonathan L., husband of Judy A. (Bobak) Mills of Orlando, FL and Cathy L. (Mills), wife of Robert F. Wegener of Fleetwood.

Other survivors include a brother, William G., husband of Sandra (Mearig) Mills of Blandon and a sister Donna M. (Mills), wife of William H. Sweigart of Laureldale.

There are also three grandchildren surviving, Michael and Chelsea Wegener and Bo Green.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Calvary Church, 1009 Elizabeth Avenue, Laureldale, PA 19605.

Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
