Chester J. Witkowski, 88, passed away Friday. June 9, 2017, in Berks Heim.
He was the husband of Catharine Hain Witkowski for 57 years before her passing in July of 2011.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Lewandowski) Witkowski.
Chester was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School and achieved his associate's degree from Wharton School of Business.
He was employed by Quaker Maid Kitchens for over 32 years before his retirement in 1991.
He was a long-time member of St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church of Cumru.
Chester was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served as a Staff Sergeant of the 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the Korean Conflict.
He was a gentle man with a kind heart. He enjoyed cooking, he loved to travel with his wife, loved music and theater, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family. Chester was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chester is survived by son, David E., husband of Cynthia L. Witkowski of Spring Township;three grandchildren: Sara of Philadelphia; Nathan and wife Shanna of Burlington, NJ; and Matthew and fiance Miranda of Mohnton. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter: Avery Rose.
He is predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters.
