Chester J. Haines

Chester John Haines, Jr., 79, of Laureldale, died November 27, 2007 in Berks Heim.

He was married November 26, 1953 to Joyce Marie (Rauenzahn) Haines. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Monday.

Born January 27, 1928 in Reading, he was a son of the late Chester J. Sr., and Helen Julia (Lindsley) Haines.

He was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School and a 1966 graduate of Rider College in Lawrencesville, New Jersey.

Chester was employed 17 years with Carpenter Technology, Reading, retiring as a purchasing manager in 1984.

He was a past president of Reading Purchasing Management Association.

Chester was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War.

He is also survived by four sons, Chester J. III, husband of Dorothy E. of Temple, Timothy R. of Reading, Steven D. husband of Cheryl E. of Shoemakersville and Richard M. husband of Linda M. of Muhlenberg Township.

Also surviving is a sister, Irene (Haines) widow of Albert Hipple of Temple; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 3:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Mark E. Brophy officiating.
