Cheryl Ann Coldren

Cheryl "Sherry" Ann (Gerhard) Coldren, 67, of Spring Township entered into rest Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in Reading Hospital. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family as she courageously finished her 15 year battle against ovarian cancer with the same grace and dignity she possessed throughout her life.

Born November 14, 1944 in Reading, she was a daughter of Margaret D. (Reck) Sotak of West Wyomissing and the late Wallace L. Gerhard.

She was a 1963 graduate of Reading High School and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reading. Sherry was the loving wife of Russell L. Coldren, Jr., whom she married February 22, 1964.

A devoted mother, she selflessly spent her life dedicated to raising four children who survive her: Mark R., husband of Christine A. (Gajewski) Coldren of Cumru Township; Rosemary L. (Coldren), wife of Christopher M. Schlegel of Ontelaunee Township; Matthew J., husband of Michelle L. (Sep) Coldren of Sinking Spring and Peter A. Coldren of Sinking Spring.

Her greatest joy was being the beloved "Grammy" to ten grandchildren, Ryan M. and Sean R. Coldren, Amanda M., Taylor E. and Aaron C. Schlegel, Kyle M., Keegan M., Kaitlyn M. Coldren, Jaclynn C. and Tarynn B. Coldren and a great granddaughter, Brooke M. Regan. The countless hours she spent coloring, playing games, building puzzles and watching movies with all of them will be greatly missed. Her infectious giggle and easy smile will be forever remembered.

Other survivors include three siblings: Doreen M. (Gerhard), wife of Joseph Kuhn; Wallace L. "Sonny" Gerhard, Jr. and Karen L. (Gerhard), wife of Robert N. Wertz all of Exeter Township.

Services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 and Friday morning from 9:00 until the time of service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Pastor Burlington Latshaw officiating. For online condolences, visit www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
