Charles J. Weckel

Charles J. Weckel, 87, of West Fifth Street, Boyertown, died Oct. 3 at 5 a.m. in Spruce Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Reading, where he had been a patient since Sept. 19.

He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Smith) Weckel.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret (Furey) Weckel.

Weckel was employed for many years as a chemist by Polymer Corp., Northmont, retiring in 1983.

He was a 1933 graduate of Jamaica High School, New York.

Weckel was an Army veteran of World War II.

He served as treasurer of the Muhlenberg Township Athletic Association in 1959.

Weckel is also survived by two sons, Leonard J., Blandon, and Gregory P., Bern Township.

There are also four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon County.
