Charles Wilmer Gordner, 81, formerly of Temple, died May 9, 2009 at 2:06 a.m. in the Reading Hospial and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Theresa M. (Sheehan) Gordner, whom he married September 9, 1950.
Born October 10, 1927 in Muhlenberg Township, he was a son of the late Charles Henry and Hannah Marcella (Sweitzer) Gordner.
Charles was employed by Molly Company, Muhlenberg Township, as a machine operator for 39 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the White Deer Gun Club, Reading for many years.
Charles enjoyed golfing and going to the mountains with his cousins.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Charles was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Charles M. , husband of Eileen L. (Nertavich) Gordner of Maidencreek Township and Debra A. (Gordner), wife of Mike W. Steffey of Bern Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Harley L. Gordner of Narvon and a sister, Patricia A. (Gordner) Bauder of Exeter Township.
There are also two grandchildren surviving, Tucker B. Gordner and Julie M. Steffey.
Charles was predeceased by a sister Betty (Gordner) Rea.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
