Charles M. "Babe" Tulley, Jr., 82, of Reading, passed away July 14, 2013 in St. Joseph's Medical Center.

His wife, Madeleine R. "Bunny" (Beresford), died May 31, 1999. They had been married for 47 years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Charles M., Sr. and Mary A. (Hamil) Tulley.

Charles was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Scranton.

He worked for At&T for over 31 years, retiring as the Resident Head of Financial Services in 1987.

Charles loved sports. He was the Central Catholic High School "All Around Athlete" 1947-1948; received 10 varsity letters in his four year career at Central Catholic in multiple sports; was a four year athlete at Scranton University, playing baseball and basketball and was the captain of the baseball team. At Scranton he received seven varsity letters. In 1947 he was the starting outfielder and catcher for the Greg Post State Championship Baseball Team. He played four years of legion baseball and averaged over .300 in batting. He coached five CYO championship teams in baseball and softball. In 1996 he was inducted into the Berks County Hall of Fame for All-Sports. He also played baseball and basketball with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Executive Board of Berks County Hall of Fame and a lifetime member of the Basketball Old Timers. He was also a member of the Shillington/Governor Mifflin Legion Post 635.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Reading.

Charles is survived by his four children: Kevin M., widower of Darlene C. Tulley, Kenhorst; Patrick J., husband of Heather M. Tulley, Mohnton; Maureen A., wife of Timothy Robinson, Grand Junction, CO and Teresa M. Tulley, Exeter Township. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jamie, wife of Andrea Barrutia, Kyle Robinson, Madeline Tulley and Quinn Tulley and one great granddaughter, Tulley A. Barrutia.

He was predeceased by his son, Timothy C. Tulley and his granddaughter, Brittany N. Robinson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, 1018 N 8th St Reading, PA 19604. A viewing will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Joseph R.C. Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
