Charles R. Trace

Charles R. Trace, 83, of Shillington, died April 7, 2008, in Manorcare of Sinking Spring.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Earl J. and Helena (McCullough) Trace. He was the husband of Christina T. (Coco) Trace.

He was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1942.

Charles was employed as a brakeman/conductor for Reading Railroad/Conrail for 37 years, retiring June 1987.

He served in the US Navy during WW II on U.S.S. Marcus Island.

Charles was the president of the local United Transportation Union from 1975 to 1985.

He is survived by three daughters; Helene R., wife of Floyd D. Schaedler, Wernersville; Nancy E., wife of Robert A. Bennick, Fleetwood; and Mary E., wife of Peter D. Boulanger, West Lawn. Three grandchildren, Amber J.Arnold, Andrew D. Boulanger, and Emily M. Boulanger; and three great-grandchildren; Sara, Cody, and Bradley also survive him.

He was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Heid.

Charles is also survived by two nieces; Margaret Heid and Martha Heid.

A Mass of Christian Celebration will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist De LaSalle Roman Catholic Church, 420 Holland Street, Shillington.
