Charles Strohmeyer, Jr., 92, of Spring Twp., died June 18, 2009 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the widower of Barbara B. (Bean) Strohmeyer.

Born in Staten Island, NY, he was a son of the late Charles, Sr., and Margaret Strohmeyer.

Charles graduated from the City University of N.Y. and attended MIT for graduate school.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.

Charles was the owner/operator of Electrodyne Research, a power plant design and consulting company until his retirement. Previously, he worked for Gilbert Associates as well as Bechtel, serving as both a consultant and engineer for both companies. Truly devoted to his work, he held a number of patents in the design of power plant construction.

He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Janice Strohmeyer, Jacksonville, FL., his son, Robert Strohmeyer, El Paso, TX, his two step-daughters, Joanne Hamilton, Watertown, MA, and Achsa Shuster, Freehold, NJ and his step-son, James O. Hamilton, Sudbury, MA. Five grandchildren also survive him.

Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing. Entombment will be in the Church's Columbarium. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, 501 Washington St., Suite 801, Reading, PA 19601.
