Charles Roger "Charlie" Coldren, 83, formerly of Lincoln Park, died August 9, 2011 in Berks Heim.

His wife, Ruth Coldren, died April 6, 2009.

Born March 13, 1928 in Shillington, he was a son of the late Charles Dewey and Mamie M. (Matz) Coldren.

Charles was a graduate of Shillington High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska.

He was employed as a machine fixer with Berkshire Knitting Mills from 1952 until 1974 and then VF Factory Outlets, where he worked in maintenance until 1990.

Charles was a member of Grace (Alsace) United Church of Christ, Muhlenberg Township.

He was a fifty year member of Masonic Lodge No. 549 and Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory.

An Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor Member of Order of the Arrow, Charlie served 20 years as Scout Master of Lincoln Park Boy Scout Troop #496. He received The Silver Beaver Award, Distinguished Commissioner Service Award and various other awards throughout his 71 year Boy Scout career. He was also a James E. West Fellow and very active in the scouting organization in Hawk Mountain Council.

Surviving is a daughter, Debra J., wife of Richard L. Hoffman of Lincoln Park.

Other survivors include three grandchildren: Ryan, Drew and Rachel.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
