Charles K. Dehaven

Charles K. DeHaven died on June 9, 2023, at Penn State St. Joseph's Hospital in Reading, PA. He was 61 years old and is survived by his daughter Alexandra, brother John (Jack), sister Patricia, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and blessed family and friends he had collected over his life.

Charles was born January 18, 1962, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania to John and Patricia (Dugan) DeHaven. He grew up in Exton, PA in a suburban community (Marchwood). He was very involved with the local arts and theatre groups including the Barley Sheaf Players. He graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School and after finding his passion studied business and became a successful business owner specializing in framing and artistic prints. Charles owned a home in Bethlehem, PA before relocating to Chester County to care for his ailing mother. Charles and his mother had a very strong and special bond and Charles expressed his love and appreciation for his mother until the moment he passed. Charles, your mom would be so very, very proud of the man you became. We are certain that you are with her now.

Charles was always true to himself. He knew who he was and was not afraid to celebrate those qualities that made him special. Charles had beautiful blue eyes and a wonderful smile that would light up the room. He was someone that everyone wanted to be near, and he loved to celebrate every part of life. He also loved sweets- Oreos and Tastykakes being his favorite. He was passionate about travel and the beauty of people and places. He was able to travel to many places during his short life and would reflect often on the beaches, sunsets, the friends he had made, and the experiences he had had.

Charles was an incredible person, and his departure was too soon for those who knew him. He was the first person to offer to help someone in need of care, compassion, or just needed a friend to listen. He exceeded at being a quality friend. He appreciated the small things and was always gracious and appreciative of those who offered to help him. Even when he had nothing left to give Charles continued to give of himself. His final weeks were difficult, and he suffered greatly but still – he refused to "burden" anyone with his illness and preferred to spread cheer instead of "bad news". Charles impacted many, and stories that are and will be recalled about Charles will forever keep his generous and fun-loving spirit alive. Charles will be remembered by his many friends and family as a fun, loving, sensitive, and supportive man and to his community as one of the most generous, positive, and peaceful beings they have had the pleasure of knowing.
