Charles F. Hafer, Jr., 89, of Muhlenberg Township, formerly of Reading died January 17, 2010 in the Wyomissing Nursing Center.
His wife, Betty F. (Johnson) Hafer died January 1, 2004.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Charles F., Sr. and Mary V. (Morgandale) Hafer.
Charles was a graduate of Shillington High School.
He was a U.S Air Force Veteran. As a civilian he continued working for the Air Force as a flight mechanic. He then worked as a bartender at the Lucky Star AA, Reading, North End Rod and Gun, Reading and the Mohnton Rod and Gun, Mohnton. He retired as a driver for the Savage Auto Group, Sinking Spring.
Charles was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Beneficial Association, Hyde Park.
He is survived by his four children: Rodney D. Hafer, Muhlenberg Township; Leland D. husband of Karen Hafer, Reading; Sterling D. husband of Maryjo Hafer, Muhlenberg Township and Beverly D. Hafer, Sinking Spring. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
