Charles H. Merkel

Charles H. Merkel, 90, of Temple, died December 7, 2006.

He was the husband of Elizabeth (Etzel) Merkel.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Peter H. and Sallie (Shearer) Merkel.

He was employed as a molder for Empire Steel Castings, Temple for 37 years until his retirement in 1978.

Mr. Merkel was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home. www.christfuneralhome.com
