Charles L. "Charlie" Guss, 73, passed away February 1, 2017, in his Spring Township residence.
He was the much-loved husband of Jeanne (Klinger) Guss and cherished father of Emily Guss. Charlie and Jeanne married on June 26, 1966 and celebrated 50 years this past summer.
Born in Licking Creek, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Lloyd W. and Lula (Lauver) Guss.
He was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School in 1961 where he was class valedictorian; Millersville University in 1965 graduated with honors and Millersville University in 1971 where he earned a master's degree in education.
Charlie was employed by Governor Mifflin School District as a metal shop teacher for 41 years, retiring in 2006.
The family attended Community Evangelical Church, Sinking Spring.
With love, he touched the lives of so many around him. Everyone, especially past students and family knew him as "Mr. Guss" or "Mr. Fix it". His warm, caring, selfless personality will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Charlie will be remembered for many things, including: love of his wife and daughter, helping all people, his pets, teaching, traveling, national parks and cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Emily Guss, Park Ranger, Virgin Islands National Park; his brother, Roger W., husband of Pamela Guss, Lewistown; three nieces, Andrea Guss, Alison Eckley and Jill Summers; and one nephew, Brett Summers. He also had many beloved pets including Hartley, Frankey, and the late Tully.
Services will be Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Community Evangelical Church, 51 Green Valley Rd, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
