Charles H. Gilbert, 76, of Harrison Avenue, Muhlenberg Township, died of natural causes Oct. 31 in his residence.

He was the husband of Viola N. (Smith) Gilbert.

Born in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of Martha S. (Hess) Gilbert, Hyde Park, and the late Harold Gregg. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Harry D. Gilbert.

Gilbert had been employed for more than 38 years by Instantwhip Products of Pennsylvania, Blandon, retiring as vice president in 1990.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing.

Gilbert was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

He was a former trustee and assistant fire chief of Central Fire Company, Laureldale.

Gilbert is also survived by two daughters, Carol L. (Gilbert) Millisock, Shallotte, N.C., and Sherry L. (Gilbert) Stern, Riverview Park, and four sons: Steven C., Mohrsville; Bradley R., Dunedin, Fla.; Randy S., Muhlenberg Park; and Charles H. Jr., Hyde Park.

Other survivors include a half brother, Harry D. Jr., Phoenix, and a half sister, Martha S. (Gilbert) Ramsey, Enola, Cumberland County.

There are also 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Barry J., on Feb. 16., and a daughter, Linda S. Gilbert, in 1959.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
