Charles Samuel Fegley, 87, of Maidencreek Township and formerly of West Wessner Road, Blandon, died May 15, 2007 at 9:12 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since May 1, 2007.
He was the husband of Ruth Anna (Lesher) Fegley, whom he married August 24, 1940.
Born on July 27, 1919 in his Blandon residence, he was a son of the late John Samuel and Laura Mabel (Wessner) Fegely.
He was a 1938 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School.
Charles was a member of Maidencreek Church, which he belonged to his whole life and served on church council.
He was employed 25 years with American Chain and Cable, Reading until the company closed in 1964.
Charles was later employed 20 years as a lineman with Met-Ed, until his retirement in 1984.
He also ran a lawn mower repair shop out of his residence for a number of years.
Charles was a charter member of the Blandon Lions Club for over 50 years and was a past president.
He was also a member of the Chandler Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, Wyomissing.
Charles was a member of the Blandon Senior Citizens Council and the Blandon Fire Company.
He is also survived by two children, Eileen C. (Fegley) wife of Gerald L. Spohn of Colebrookdale Township and David P. husband of Sharon E. (Sumpter) Fegley of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Mark D. Spohn, Michael L. Spohn, Matthew D. Fegley, Katherine E. (Fegley) Booth and six great grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary E. (Lesher) wife of Richard Winzer of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; a nephew and three nieces.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 am in Maidencreek Church, 261 Main Street, Blandon, PA 19510, with the Rev. Sara A. Hertzog officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am until time of services in the church. Burial will be in Maidencreek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
