Charles Harper Bestwick

Charles Harper Bestwick, 25, of West Lawn, passed November 11, 2016, in the Reading Hospital. The man, the myth, the legend was surrounded by countless friends and family, all of whom agree that legends never die.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of Margaret M. (Frogh) Bestwick, Sinking Spring, and the late Scott W. Bestwick.

Charlie was a 2009 graduate of Wilson High School and a student of the University of Vermont. An aspiring arborist, he was employed by Connelly Landscaping.

Charlie's wealth of knowledge of music, nature, movies, food and fun form the foundation of the memories so many have with him. His character beamed with brilliance, charm, compassion and humor. With love, he touched the lives of so many around him. For that, the Bestwick house has always been filled with his lifelong friends and their everlasting good times.

Though his passing is tragic, there is comfort in knowing that Charlie will help those in need enjoy their own everlasting good times. In donating his organs, Charlie made the decision to be a miracle of hope to many families. He will forever be remembered as a genuine and lovable man, always offering his help where he was able. He will be missed deeply by many.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his four siblings: Emily F. Bestwick, New York, NY, Mary C. Bestwick, Palm Desert, CA, Elizabeth R. Bestwick, Philadelphia, PA and Quentin T. Bestwick, Bozeman, MT. Charlie is survived by his girlfriend, Brynn N. Swavely and his dog Jasper. And also by his paternal grandmother, Rosemary E. Bestwick, West Palm Beach, FL, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing. Friends may call Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Edward J.
