Charles E. Beavens, Jr., 73, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2019, in the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, he was a son of Leona (Hoffert) and the late Charles E. Beavens, Sr.

Chuck started schooling in 1952 at the Maple Grove School, a one-room schoolhouse for the 1st Grade. He went on to study at Governor Mifflin schools. later joining the US Army. He always had a fascination for tinkering with motor vehicles, and was a mechanic nearly all his life.

Chuck was born with a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He also loved the simple things in life, like time spent with his family, and taking long rides in the country on his motorcycle.

Later in life, Chuck embraced new technologies, especially watching races and how to fix things on You Tube, and he was an avid Netflix watcher.

Chuck is survived by his children: son Charles E. Beavens, III. husband of Marrybell, Reading; and his daughter Heather Beavens, partner of Paul Scarborough, Reading; along with his grandchildren: Alexis and Matthew Scarborough. Also surviving are his sisters: Mary, wife of Brian Kachel, Adamstown; Barbara Brunner, wife of Richard Mohler, Adamstown; and his brother David, partner of Yolanda Dejong Hughes, Mohnton; and several nieces and nephews.

Chuck was predeceased by a son, Matthew Beavens, and brother Dennis (Denny) Beavens.

Services will be private at the convenience of Chuck's family.

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
