Catherine D. Simpson

Catherine D. (Dorscheid) Simpson, 94, died June 21, 2010 in The Highlands at Wyomissing.

She was the devoted wife of Rolland W. Simpson who died November 14, 1976.

Born in Buffalo, NY, she was a daughter of the late George and Anna (McNichol) Dorscheid.

Catherine was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading where she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Society.

She is survived by two children, James R., Reading and Mary E., wife of Thomas Byrne, Sinking Spring and two siblings, Elizabeth Brown, West Seneca, NY and James Dorscheid, Cheektowaga, NY. She was predeceased by her brother, George Dorscheid.

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Thomas R., husband of Jennifer Byrne, Sinking Spring, Kelly, wife of William Ruth, Mohrsville and Christopher Byrne, Long Island City, NY; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas and Regina Byrne; and Abigail and Brady Ruth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J.
