Catherine L. Hussar

Catherine L. (Long) Hussar, 86, of 802 Emerson Avenue, Laureldale died September 14th at 8:10 a.m. in the Topton Lutheran Home where she had been since Sept. 12th.

Formerly of 726 7th Avenue, Bethlehem, she was the widow of Maximin J. Hussar Jr. (Died July 18, 1982).

Born in Bethlehem, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Berger) Long.

She was a 1933 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, Pa.

Catherine and her late husband were the owners / operators of Hotel Fleetwood since 1960. She retired in January of 1987.

She was the past secretary for the Berks County and the Pennsylvania Tavern Associations.

A member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park, Hussar was a past treasurer of the Senior Club.

She was the past President of the Fleetwood Womens Club.

Hussar is survived by a son, Maximin C. of Topton and two daughters; Maxine A. (Hussar) wife of Daryl Rhode of Fogelsville, Lehigh County and Catherine E. "Bonnie" (Hussar) wife of Richard Santangelo of Fleetwood, Berks County.

She is also survived by two brothers, William Long of McSherrystown Adams County, and Richard Long of Largo, Florida.

Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 9:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Pa 19605. Viewing Tuesday 8 to 9 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
