Catherine C. Hartberger

Catherine Cecelia (Janiszewski) Hartberger, formerly of Alsace Township, age 92, expired on Tuesday evening January 8, 2008, in her apartment at the Atria Westchase Assisted Living Center in Houston with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.

She was born on April 3, 1915, in Ruscombmanor Township, the third child of ten of the late John and Katie (Dlugosz) Janiszewski.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Ludwig George Hartberger in 1971. She is survived by a son Ronald John Hartberger and daughter-in-law Patricia Noonan Hartberger, of Houston, Texas; a sister-in-law Betty Hartberger, a brother-in-law Daniel Levengood, Sr., and several nieces and nephews, all in Pennsylvania.

Catherine moved to Houston in 1998 for reasons of health.

While in Houston she spent several years as a volunteer at the Briarwood School for children with special needs.

She enjoyed many friends in the Atria Assisted Living Center, and especially the musical programs there. She also enjoyed the block parties and gatherings at her son and daughter-in-law's residence.

In Houston she was a member of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, having been a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church before her move. Catherine will be greatly missed by her son, daughter-in-law, family in Pennsylvania and her friends in Houston, especially at Atria, where she resided for the past seven years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in Holy Guardian Angels Church, Hyde Park. Friends may call on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.
