Carolyn Helms Schlegel

Carolyn Helms Schlegel, 83, formerly of Penn Township died July 8, 2012 in Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center, Wernersville.

She was the wife of Raymond Carl Schlegel who died September of 2004.

Born May 22, 1929 in Robesonia, she was a daughter of the late Lewes Renninger and Dorothy Helms.

Carolyn was a 1947 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and a 1949 graduate of McCann School of Business.

She was employed as a secretary with Traveler's Insurance Company.

Carolyn was a member of Belleman's Lutheran Church.

She volunteered at the Red Cross for many years and was very active in The United Way for years.

surviving are her three children: Jeffrey A., husband of Kay L. Schlegel of Penn Township; Suzanne R. Schlegel of Cazenovia, NY and Barbara A., wife of Edward Mellinger of Palmyra.

In addition, she is survived by her three grandchildren: Jonathan C. Schlegel, Christian M. Schlegel and Andrea Allessie.

Graveside services will be private at the conveneince of the family in Heidelberg Cemetery. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
