Carolyn Ann (Koffke) Fick, 82, of Maidencreek Township, died October 13, 2009 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
She was married August 14, 1964 to the late Daniel Luther Fick, who died April 21, 2007.
Born in Reading, PA on March 9, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Friedrich E. and Carrie E. (Sattizahn) Koffke.
She was a member of Maidencreek Church.
Carolyn was a 1945 graduate of Reading High School and a 1948 graduate of Pottstown Hospital Nursing School.
Her post-graduate education includes a comprehensive selection of management and health care courses at West Chester University, West Chester; Pennsylvania State University, State College; Hershey Medical Center, Hershey; Harcum Junior College, Philadelphia; The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; St. Joseph's College, North Windham, ME and Reading Area Community College.
Carolyn was a registered nurse her entire working career from 1948 - 1994.
She has worked as a pediatric staff nurse at New York Hospital / Cornell Medical Center; staff nurse of Community General Hospital, Reading; charge nurse at Berks Heim; staff nurse and instructor / supervisor of Reading Hospital's student nurses; instructor of student practical nurses for the Reading/Muhlenberg Vocational Technical School; and director of Nursing at the Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers in West Reading and Laureldale.
Carolyn was last employed in 1990 as administrator of the Caum Memorial Home, Reading, a personal care facility of The Lutheran Home at Topton, retiring in August, 1994.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #336, Kutztown.
Carolyn is survived by a sister, Mildred B. (Koffke), widow of Philip A. Reiniger of Pennside.
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 am in Maidencreek Church, 261 Main St., Blandon, PA 19510, with the Rev. Sara A. Hertzog officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Maidencreek Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
