Caroline V. Matenus

Caroline Viola (Ditullo) Matenus, 85, formerly of Swoyersville, PA and resided in Wyoming, PA, peacefully entered eternity at Manor Care Nursing Home, Laureldale, PA, on April 30, 2013, on what would have been her 58th wedding anniversary. She was born March 4, 1928 in West Pittston, the daughter of the late Lena (Corridoni) Bosworth and the late Peter Ditullo.

Carol was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 37 years, Raymond J. Matenus who died on May 28, 1992. She was also preceded by her loving friend, Charles (Carl) Artim who died on January 15, 2011.

She was a graduate of West Pittston High School, class of 1946; having worked in the garment manufacturing industry and a member of the ILGWU, she retired in 1985. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville and of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara, wife of John Bieber, Fleetwood, PA; and her son Paul, Saratoga Springs, NY; two granddaughters, Rachel and Lauren Bieber, Fleetwood; also her sister Victoria, wife of Gordon Remington, Niceville, FL; and brother George Ditullo, husband of Rose, Trenton, NJ; two nieces and three nephews; and many devoted friends and relatives.

A heartfelt thanks for the kind and loving care she received from the staff at Manor Care where she had been a resident since June 2008.

Visitation at Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Kutztown Rd. , Muhlenberg Twp. on Saturday, May 4 from 10-10:30AM followed by a memorial service at 10:30AM officiated by Rev. Timothy Valentino. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville, on Monday, May 6 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming, PA.
