Caroline S. Townsley

Caroline S. Townsley, 91, formerly of State Hill Rd., Spring Township and Berks Leisure Living, Leesport, died August 15th at 11:57 pm in her son's residence at 141 Carriage Hill Lane, York, where she had been for 2 months.

She was the widow of Jesse M. Townsley Sr., who died January 6, 1995.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John and Hannah (Christ) Griesel.

She worked as a receptionist for 20 years at Textile / North American Rockwell before retiring in 1973.

Townsley was a member of West Wyomissing Chapel, Spring Township.

She taught Sunday school at Atonement Lutheran Church from 1943-1955.

Townsley was a 1929 graduate of Pottsville High School and attended of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing.

She is survived by two sons, Jesse M. Jr., of York and Richard L. of Oley.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Viewings Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Thursday 9:00 - 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
